Iron ore crushing plant in Ethiopia

Mining in Ethiopia
Conflict between Ethiopia and Eritrea continues and this has a negative effect on foreign investment in these two countries. Ethiopia’s minerals sector contributes less than 1% to the country’s GDP. Ethiopia’s main mineral export is gold. The state-owned Ethiopian Mineral Resources Development Corporation (EMRDC) is involved with the development and production of mineral resources.

Iron Ore Crushing Plant
Even though modern mining in Ethiopia is recent, gold has traditionally been mined from alluvial and, to a lesser extent, primary free gold since ancient times. Modern gold mining methods have only been used since the 1930′s in the Bedakesa Valley of the Adola area in Southern Ethiopia. Later exploration has resulted in the discovery of the Lega Dembi deposit and other minerals.
Current mining activities also include the production of tantalite (50 t/year) and soda ash (20,000 t/year). The only formal tantalum mining operation is the Kenticha Mine, operated by Ethiopian Mines Development Share Company.
Mining of kaolin, dimension stones (limestone, marble and granite) and small scale and artisanal mining of precious metals, gemstone, salt, industrial minerals and construction materials are the main mining activities in Ethiopia. Ethiopia has located some coal reserves in three separate areas in Ethiopia estimated at containing 61 Mt of coal (all lignite). Additional reserves have apparently been located in the Western part of the country.

Ethiopia iron ore beneficiation plant
In 2010 they bought a crushing plant consisting of a 900×1060 jaw crusher 16×6 twin deck screen and 4ft cone crusher producing 20mm road base. But found that cone crushers output does not match that of the rest of the plant. Meanwhile, they were also looking to set up a tertiary crushing plant to produce iron ore. SBM found the supply-demand information in a B2B website and contact them. Finally, SBM supplied the customer 550t/ h iron ore beneficiation line.
According to the requriements from customer, SBM design this iron ore beneficiation line with vibrating feeder, stone crushing machine (jaw crusher series mobile crusher), vibrating screen and belt conveyor. To meet the capacity requirement, SBM choose the PE-1200X1500 jaw crusher model as the main crushing equipment in the mobile jaw crusher. Meanwhile, we applied ZSW-600X1300 series vibrating feeder and the vibrating screen with relevent capacity. Finally, the ethiopia customer were happy with the configuration.
Iron ore mined technology
Iron ore can be found all over the world, in the form of rocks and other minerals. To be economically viable for mining, iron ore must contain at least 20% iron. Magnetite ore has the highest proportion of iron, at 65%. Haematite ore also has a high content of iron at 60%. All iron ore contains ferric oxide and it is from this that iron is extracted. Approximately two billion tonnes of iron ore are mined each year.
